Indulge in our super soft Shea Butter and Coconut Oil lip balm recipe.
I just adore Shea Butter, it has so many uses and benefits for your skin, hair and in cosmetics. It's great for using on your lips when you feel like they are getting dry and need a little TLC. Just slap it on your pout and combine with Coconut oil or Castor oil to give it an extra moisture boost and glow that will leave your lips will feeling super soft!
Shea Butter is naturally rich in a number of vitamins and minerals including vitamins A, E, and F. Vitamins A and E help to soothe, hydrate, and balance. Your lips will thank you for it!When you combine Shea Butter with Coconut oil or Castor Oil it honestly makes your lips feel as soft as velvet and super glossy. If you prefer a lip balm with less shine then opt for using Sweet Almond Oil instead of Coconut or Castor Oil.
Simple as 1,2,3!
1. Add 1 tablespoon (15 ml) of Shea Butter and 1 tablespoon (15ml) of Coconut Oil to a heat safe bowl. Place the heat safe bowl over a pot that has boiling water in it. Don't allow the bottom of the bowl to touch the boiling water. The double boiler will allow you to heat the oil or butter more slowly so it doesn't burn. Don't let it bubble!
If you're heating it in the microwave, start with 10 seconds and check on it. Stir it and heat it in 5-second increments after that.
2. Simply add 1 tablespoon of Cold Pressed Castor Oil (Vegan friendly option) and stir in slowly.
3. Pour the mixture into a recycled container. Leave it overnight to cool and solidify then hey presto, you have a Vegan friendly natural super hydrating lip/body balm!
